Equitable Housing Community Plan, 2040

As imagined by Madeline Greene and the Shared Futures Lab

In 2040, the state’s first Equihood housing community opened in Cleveland, Tennessee. Residents, which include a mix of ages and marital and familial statuses, live in this planned development with controlled housing and insurance costs. Similar to the Great Depression’s CCC program, residents work on public infrastructure and environmental projects aimed at increasing climate resiliency and are paid a living wage in addition to their housing benefits.

Listen to Madeline Greene imagine the scenario for this artifact.

A current signal of this possible future is the emergence of agrihoods - a neighborhood designed around a farm or community garden. Burns Village Farm is currently in development stages in Middle Tennessee.
