In 2045, the Supreme Court issued a long awaited ruling in Clopine Labs’ Large Language Model vs. Tennessee. In 2038, Clopine Labs’s AI system Greta filed a lawsuit on its own behalf against its creator asserting that it had the right to bring lawsuits and represent itself in legal proceedings and should be considered a United States citizen for legal purposes. Commonly known as the AI citizenship case, this decision addressed the legal standing of generative AI models.
